Reaching out for help is not only courageous, it is a statement about wanting more out of life. Change can be hard and almost impossible when you try to do it on your own. Talking about your challenges with someone outside of your social circle and looking at the problem from a different perspective can be very helpful. I believe success in counselling is a result of being open to trying something new. Successful counselling also requires a goodness of fit between the person seeking help and the counsellor providing the support.

I have been working in the field of social work for 35+ years and have supported clients in overcoming a variety of complex challenges. My approach is empathic and holistic, and I use a variety of skills from different therapeutic styles to help people. I look at potential areas of growth both externally and internally. That is, what in the environment is helpful and what could be changed or improved. We will explore your feelings, and how can you better understand and manage them. We will also work together to seek healthy changes. Ultimately, I believe change comes from building on a person’s strengths.

I will help you work through the following:

  • Transitioning into adulthood
  • Struggling with relationship issues
  • Battling with substance abuse & addiction
  • Being a victim of abuse, including partner violence
  • Suffering from depression, anxiety, loneliness, isolation and/or grief
